Michelle Beadle, a popular sports reporter, recently found herself in an awkward situation after accidentally saying the wrong word during a live broadcast of FanDuel’s NBA show, Run It Back. During the show, Beadle, 49, mistakenly said a racial slur instead of the word “Nuggets” while discussing a quote from a Denver Nuggets player.
The Accidental Slip
While talking about a comment made by Michael Porter Jr., Beadle said, “Michael Porter Jr. recently said — aw, I don’t like this — that if the N—–,” accidentally using a slur instead of “Nuggets.” The clip quickly went viral on social media, gaining over 5 million views on X (formerly Twitter).
The Immediate Reaction
Beadle realized her mistake immediately and corrected herself by saying “the Nuggets.” Her co-hosts, Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams, were visibly shocked. Parsons covered his mouth, while Williams laughed and said, “Ooh, that was a good one.”
Trying to move on, Beadle said, “Don’t try to get me on that,” but her co-hosts couldn’t contain their reactions. Williams laughed so hard his head hit the table, joking, “Beadle, you gon’ be in trouble today.” Beadle tried to defend herself, saying, “That’s not fair!”
She added, “That’s not even a thing. It’s not even a word,” but Parsons chimed in with, “It sounded like it.”
Social Media Response
Beadle’s team and FanDuel did not immediately respond to requests for comment. However, as the incident gained more attention online, Beadle addressed it on social media. She posted a clip of her co-hosts’ reactions on her Instagram Stories, replacing the audio with the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme song, which is often used for funny or awkward moments.
“The moment you say ‘Nuggets’ incorrectly on television and your entire career flashes… while your cohosts die,” Beadle wrote over the clip, tagging her co-hosts. She also offered some advice, saying, “Broadcasting students: slow down. And enunciate.”
Finding Humor in the Situation
Despite the embarrassing moment, Beadle’s way of handling it with humor seemed to resonate with many viewers. Her ability to take responsibility and laugh at herself during a tough situation showed her professionalism and made the awkward moment a little easier to swallow for everyone involved.
